GIFT VOUCHER PROCESSING

Eclipse can also be used for gift voucher processing offering all the features which are commonly required for gift voucher reconciliation including: -

  • Machine reading of gift voucher codelines, OCR-A, OCR-B, E13B plus all major barcodes.
  • Machine reading of batch header information
  • User definition of new gift voucher types, including the ability to define codeline formats, modulus check digit routines, batch sizes and batch header details for individual gift voucher types or voucher groups
  • Gift voucher denomination derived from one or more codeline data fields
  • Choice of single pass stop and correct or multi-pass reprocess upside down documents
  • User defined batch balancing rules – balance by count, value etc
  • Optional acceptance of out-of-balance batches
  • Duplicate gift voucher detection
  • Data export to customer business systems
  • Comprehensive reports and on-line help
  • Manual entry process for unreadable or damaged documents
  • Historic data archive

Additionally, using Eclipse offers the full benefits of image based document processing technology to read, process and reconcile gift vouchers including: -

  • Greatly reduced pre-processing time – vouchers can be read from image even if they are fed upside down or back to front – single pass non-stop processing.
  • Batches may contain a mixture of voucher types
  • Superior character recognition and faster throughput compared to conventional readers
  • Ability to read non-standard fonts which cannot be processed by traditional OCR readers
  • Document images may be stored and used to resolve retailer queries

Using the Eclipse system to process gift vouchers allows some of its standard benefits to apply.

  • Flexible workflow control – more operators can be brought into the system to process large volumes. Operators who are not 100% busy with their normal processes (home workers, support staff, receptionist, part time staff) can be used to correct items and therefore be utilised more fully.
  • Better control of valuable paper items – because operators correct and balance from image without leaving their normal workstation, there are no boxes of paper items being moved from office to office.
  • Batch headers can be designed to be image friendly, moving some of the effort from processing to the batch creators, usually the retail site. Images captured from the headers can also be used to resolve retailer queries, for example being able to view on-line the signature of the person creating the batch at the retailer.
  • Eclipse is a scalable system which can start with a single low volume reader on a single PC and be scaled up to run with several high speed transports over a client server network serving many workstations.
